Blazer for All

Dear Diary,
I'm frumpy 90% of the time during my pregnancy like most women (no judgment!)  But occasionally when you want to pretend you still have everything together (while standing in swollen feet), I have a solution for you: long blazers.  The wonderful thing about blazer is that it gives structure to your frame.  So you can bum in your leggings, oversized sweaters, and maxi dresses all you want underneath; the blazer will give you an illusion of a narrower frame while looking more trendy, energetic, and pulled together.   After all, we women can do it all even when we are carrying a bowling ball at all time, so we might as well look the part!

A New Year to Blossom

Dear Diary,
It's a New Year and the briskness in air feels just right for a new beginning.  However, before the Bay Area dropped to near freezing temperature, I was able to wear a floral number for a little while.  This high waist dress is actually not a maternity dress but was surprising accommodating for the first two trimesters.  The long pleats right below the waist line hid my bump earlier in the pregnancy (up to 4 months) then allowed me to grow into it over time.  I'm thankful for my impulse purchases that allowed me to have one more thing to wear other than my leggings and oversized tee.

Cape Me Up!

Dear Diary,
As if dressing a bump is not hard enough already, dressing a bump in the winter? Forget it!  Most winter coats are pregnant women's nemesis (forget about buttoning up!).  Lucky for me, this winter is a total cape season.  It's the perfect cover up for a growing bump in the cold weather.  Not to mention it's a vehicle to cover that unflattering growing behind of yours (stuffed in a pair of thinly stretched leggings from your pre-regnancy days).   I have a few people to thank for kick starting this life-saving trend: Olivia Palermo (Cara Delevingne, SJP) with the Burberry colorbock blanket/cape and the gorgeous Blake Lively in the Alicia Adams cape.  Yes, I might look like a tent but that's okay with me!

Keeping Your Own Style With A Growing Bump

Dear Diary,
Sorry I've been missing for a little while.  You can say I've been busy expanding the F&R clan.  I just want to stop and say hi to let you know I'm...here!

In the past few months I've been spending a lot of time in my sweats and t-shirt (hey~ that's every pregnant women's right!).  However, every once in a while when I was required to look more decently, I still try to look like my old self, just with an ever changing body shape.  It's hasn't been easy and unfortunately that means I repeat my clothes quit often.  But that's what I chose to do instead of purchasing a brand new maternity wardrobe that I won't be too excited about.  My simple formula has been to purchase a few super stretchy dresses and pair it with different existing outerwear from your closet.  Like this H&M black cotton dress that was meant to be a multi-tiered drape dress ended up as my go to maternity dress.  Believe me, I'll wear this same outfit even long after I off load this bun~

Black for Fall

Dear Diary,
Waking up to a much gloomier sky in the morning and a cooler temperature in the evening.  For the first time in a long time, I felt there's season.  Gladly putting on my leather jacket and my cat eye sunglasses, I'm ready to enjoy this very short lived change in weather and turning leaves.

It's Leopard Time!

Dear Diary,
One of the best thing about Fall is the opportunity to wear leopard print!  Leopard print dress, leopard print scarf, leopard print pumps, leopard print handbag!!!  Definitely not all together but just a hint of leopard print to dress up your jeans or black bottoms.  It might seem like an odd reason to like a season but for someone who has a secret obsession with leopard, this is quite...normal!

Fall Trench Mini Me

Dear Diary,
Fall has snuck up on me.  The only reason I even noticed the weather change (since I'm in California) was from taking my LO to the park at 9 am in the morning.  It was the first time in a long time I felt the morning brisk.  Then it dawned on me that I'm not Fall fashion ready!  I mean, have you seen the Burberry poncho seen on OP and SJP?!  But one thing that will allow me to sleep better at night is knowing that my LO is trench coat ready!  I might have waited for two years for this moment to happen but it was all worth it!

White, Blue, and Leather

Dear Diary,
It's been a while since I posted anything in jeans but the truth is they are still part of my daily uniform.  Nothing is easier and more fresh than your most flattering white top with jeans; which is at the moment a white peplum top from Forever21.  The leather jacket just adds a little more sass to a very classic look.

Surprise Yourself

 Dear Diary,
Sometimes I surprise myself.  Once in a while I'd pick out something that doesn't seem very me at first.  Like this boxy black top with sheer mid section.  It seems too boyish and sporty for my taste.  A little too long in length and outright unflattering due to its stiff material.  But for some reason, I was drawn to it and I just had to take it home. I didn't have a plan for it nor did I know what would work with it.   After a few trial and error, I saw myself with a dash of cool, a little feminine, plenty of attitude, and a whole lot of ME.

A Dress He Can Appreciate

Dear Diary,
A rare opportunity to have a dinner date with my husband calls for a new dress.  What a treat for my husband since I seldomly put on new gears for him (not that he notices or anything).  Thanks for Zara's amazing sale, this ultra feminine dress barely made a dent in my wallet.  That I'm sure my husband appreciates more than anything else (sadly).
