Pulling on a shirt when you are on the run is just routine. But have you taken a minute to make you look the best you can? Follow these simple steps to transfer from drab to fab!
Step 1: forget your usual bootleg jeans and go with something that shows off more of your personality (ripped jeans or colored skinny jeans)
Step 2: if your top lacks interest, put on a pair of great shoes that brings in color, texture, or design
Step 3: a great trick to brighten up any boring outfit is to add an oversize scarf with colors and prints
Who said you can’t look fabulous in 5 min?

We spend more of our waking hours in the office than at home. Some of us might decide to maintain two separate identities in the workspace and outside; I, on the other hand, prefer to bring a little of myself to any environment.
One way I do that is to bring my weekend style to the office. Recall that print shirtdress from an earlier entry? It’s the best opportunity to present yourself in the latest Spring trend while still being work appropriate.
Put on a black blazer for coverage and formality and swap the 5" tall sandals with low neutral pumps. With these simple changes, you might just feel the Spring air even when you are stuck in your cube!

If you are looking for ways to make Spring dressing foolproof, you cannot undermine shirtdresses. It has the structure and flattering frame of a shirt and the convenience and softness of a dress.
This particular shirtdress caught my eye with its fun prints and hints of color – it’s like packing three major Spring trends in one! Keeping the whimsical quality of the piece, my first intuition is to outfit this dress with just cute platform sandals, delicate jewelry and oversized tote - a perfectly flirty look to dash around town.

If you are a loyal reader, then you’ll know that I love unexpected combinations. In fact, I think that’s what makes the everyday task of getting dressed fun!
Inspired by the article on FabSugar on utility jackets, I dug into my closet and re-created Kate Bosworth’s ultra feminine lace dress combined with a more rugged military inspired jacket look. With a slight adjustment - nude lace top (although I do wish it’s a nude lace dress!) and nude heels to extend my legs (no I don’t have Kate Bosworth’s legs), I found a way to look..."pretty tough"!

You are probably slightly confused: where are the pictures with today’s post? The truth is I’ve got some work to do and I’m exhausted so I’ll have to delay my usual post by one day. Pretty terrible of me, I know! I seriously wonder how other bloggers have a full time job and still maintain their blogs at the same time; if you happen to know the secrets to life, please let me know!
To make up for the disappointment, I will offer you a chance to win a mini flap handbag perfect for the season. You can wear the bag long as a crossbody for the more modern look or wear it short for a more classic look.
Giving is fun and I’m spreading the F&R style, one giveaway at a time!

The world is constantly evolving and that means we must too, or we’ll be left behind and forgotten like the pink leg warmers from the 80’s or the off the shoulder sweatshirts with cutouts. For better or for worse, my fashion diary has been a great motivation for me to reinvent myself.
Floral prints are such a huge trend now but believe it or not, I am not a huge floral person. While I can’t explain myself why it’s okay for me to wear bright pink dresses, flowers headbands, or ruffle blouses, for some "unexplainable" reason, I would not pick out clothes with actual “flower” prints when I shop. A huge reason is because floral prints can easily look dated and fall out of fashion in a heartbeat.
Things changed when I laid my eyes on this soft and pretty blouse from Forever21! Perhaps it’s the pastel color pallets that made it seem more approachable. Maybe it’s the less than $20 price point that made me want to give it a chance. But I was surprisingly delighted when I tried it on because I felt like I was going to embark on a brand new adventure!

Not all of us are quite ready for Spring and that’s totally okay! If you are as indecisive as I am, then it’s normal for your outfits to bounce between seasons. Luckily, longer hemlines and silhouettes are back in trend, which will allow me to embrace the unpredictable weather while being “accidentally” fashionable!
This cotton stretchy maxi dress from H&M might soon be my favorite thing to wear now. Wear it with a structural blazer for a more put together look or throw on a large cable knitted cardigan for casual Fridays; a great piece with endless possibilities. With this comfy maxi dress, I wouldn’t mind taking a little longer to make any decisions at all!

Spring is right around the corner, so is it time to switch out your wardrobe to make room for the new season? Not for me! Thanks to the California weather and my shopping strategies, I don’t have much seasonality to my wardrobe. That allows me to buy pieces that I can wear all year round and save a ton of money!
So wearing summer clothes in cooler weather is easy – add layers with thin v-neck sweaters, long cardigans, or vests and top off with smart outerwear for extra protection. But how do you wear winter pieces in the Spring? The secret is in the balance.
- Offset the heaviness of winter pieces by pairing them with something that shows off more skin
- Shake the winter gray by adding bright colors to your outfit
- Counterbalance the shapeless sweaters with a formfitting bottom
