Torn and Ripped

Dear Diary,
Slightly torn and damaged - is just how I like it. Ripped denim shorts is my favorite alternative to rock an effortless downtown girl look in sunny weather. It might be a bit much but I couldn't help but echo the rip on my shorts with a top with two key-holes. How would you wear your denim shorts this season?

Sour Mood

Dear Diary,
Weeks into my boot, I can't say my mood didn't feel a tiny bit sour when my doctor said my foot is "not recovering at the rate expected". But instead of letting it get to me, I thought it might better for my mental state if I expressed my feelings in a healthy way. So I let my heart picked a outfit and needless to say,it turned out...

Summer Essentials - Bold Prints

Dear Diary,
Bold prints might just be the best thing to happen to me this summer. Whether it's floral, tribal, or animal, wearing them as a flowy sheer top is a great way to draw focus upward. Plus, t
here's something invigorating about wearing fun patterns that keep your mood lifted and light. I feel so airy you might think I'm gliding through air (in my boot)!

Fashion to Boot

Dear Diary,
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

This past weekend I was on a mission to find a going-out outfit to join some friends for an intimate champagne and hors d'oeuvres affair. This time around, I wasn't in the mood for a sexy little dress or even a cute mini-hem skirt. I wanted something slightly easier but still very glam. I think my boot appreciates my effort for making it part of my assemble.

Summer Essentials - Shorts

Dear Diary,
Life comes with obstacles, many of which prevent you from moving forward - literally. As a 3 year old at the supermarket sitting in a shopping cart with her little finger innocently pointing at my leg might say, I got a "boo boo" on my foot. But if you think a broken foot will get in the way of my summer plans, think again!

A pair of great shorts is my item of choice for this scorching hot summer. Be sure to pick up a pair in loud prints, or bright colors so they become the focal interest of your entire look. They are a smart way to stay cool while looking modern and fun. After all, a mini-hem is the best way to show off my new semi-permanant footwear!

F&R Summer Escape

Dear Diary,
There's one rare moment that I enjoy not dressing up - and that is when I am in a white plush robe sitting in the sun and enjoying a great ocean view. Just for one moment I do not miss my platform heels, chunky bracelets, or even my metallic belts! What could have possessed me? I might just forgo that Halston dress and go for a terry-cloth bathrobe for my next purchase instead!

Happy One Year F&R!

Dear Diary,
I was pretty much speechless when I realized that it's been one full year since I started Frills and Ruffles. To be honest,I never thought I would have the persistence to commit myself to this project for so long! I started blogging with the goal to push myself to do something different, creative, and completely outside of my comfort zone. I really didn't have many expectations of what would become of this venture, but to my surprise, I've found myself growing and learning along the way. A year has gone by and a lot has happened (for the better) both to the blog and my life outside the blog. I cannot be more proud of where the blog is today and I thank you for your support.

So for my one year entry, I am sharing everything that inspired me to start it all - a great Phillip Lim dress, amazing sunshine (because my husband always says I'm sun-powered), and the beautiful location where I started my life together with my supportive husband.
